Achaemenid Soldier Woman T-shirt

This is a hand-drawn original replica of the relief in Persepolis palace shirt, the name given by Herodotus to an elite heavily armed infantry unit of exactly 10,000 soldiers in the army of the Achaemenid Empire.

Written below the main design is Ἀθάνατοι which means Immortal in ancient Greek.

The name stemmed from the custom that every killed, seriously wounded, or a sick member was immediately replaced with a new one,

The reoccurrence of the word “Immortals” in ancient sources comes from Roman historians, description of an elite cavalry unit of the army of the Sasanian Empire, which suggests that they were numbered 10,000 men, with the difference that they were elite heavy cavalry.
